What is a House Concert?
Generally, it's a show that's presented in someone's home, or a nearby private space (barn, backyard, shearing tent, you name it). Usually, but not always, the audience capacity is smaller than a coffeehouse or club The average house concert is 15-20 people, but can be much larger. The money or "donations" collected from the invited audience usually goes straight to the performers, with no "profit motive" on the presenter's part. Average donation is $10 to $20 per person. Refreshments, if any, are usually either a "pot Luck" brought by the listeners, or provided by the hosts using a bit of the gate receipts. Generally, house concerts are for singer/songwriters vs bands and are designed for original music vs a bevy of cover songs. Many times, you'll hear new, fresh, yet to be discovered gems. More times, the artist's CD is for sale. Interested In Hosting A House Concert? If you're interested in hosting a house concert contact Ray Peal @ 904-886-9040. The House Concert's GoalTo promote and help create meaningful concert experiences for music audiences and deserving artists. Why?Because it is increasingly challenging for independent writers/artists to draw audiences to clubs, and more difficult still to connect with these audiences in a meaningful way. For acoustic performers especially, today's venues offer too many distractions: televisions, pool tables, loud conversations, etc. and are far too reliant on alcohol sales and a "Top 40" atmosphere. How?By bringing the original music experience to a small and intimate setting... a listening room for those people who enjoy hearing the lyrics and the story behind the song. I believe that house concerts are the best way to enjoy live music today. When?Ray Peal performs house concerts for such events as: Parties, Corporate Functions, Wine Tastings, Weddings, Rehearsal Dinners
